The Madurai bench of Madras high court
 

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court was embarked on 24th July 2004. It was inaugurated by the Mr. R.C. Lahoti – Respectable Chief Justice of Supreme Court, India. Respectable Justice Mr. B. Subhashan Reddy – Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Respectable Justice Mr. Shivaraj V. Patil – Judge of Supreme Court, India, Respectable Justice Dr. AR. Lakshmanan – Judge of Supreme Court, India, Respectable Justice Mr. H.R. Bharadwaj - Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India, Respectable Minister Mr. D. Jayakumar – Minister for Law, IT & Electricity, Government of Tamil Nadu and Respectable Minister Mr. K. Venkatapathy – Minister of State for Law and Justice, Government of India made their grand presence in the inauguration ceremony.



The organizational structure is a four storied building with an overall area of 22,929 Sq.m. The building area covers 15209 Sq.m which includes 12 Court Halls, Chambers of Respectable Judges, Steno Room and Visitors Halls. The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court started operating with full force from 24.07.04 with the Legal Power of Districts including Madurai, Kanniyakumari, Tuticorn, Tirunelveli, Ramnathapuram, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Pudukottai, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur and Karur. The Madras High Court Bench at Madurai handles Legal Power in all affairs equally as of the Madras High Court.

The chambers of Respectable Judges are fully air conditioned with wall paneling and false ceiling. The court halls are endowed with Public Address Systems. Among 12 Court Halls, 4 major Court Halls are designed on the replica of Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court. The 4 Court Halls are designed as full podium with secondary dais for Court Officer and Personal Assistant Book Shelves, Barricades, Cushion chairs, etc. The remaining other 8 halls are designed similar to the Court Halls of Madras High Court. Almost all the departments are computerized and Landscaping could be made in front of the Administrative Block.
