Madurai is place were “Muthamil Sangam” was created and preserved. It is popularly called as “Sangam Vaithu Tamil Valartha Madurai”. It is known for Iyal (Literature), Isai (Music) and Nadagam (Drama), which had their roots in the rural folk dances.
